WHAT IS SPORTS TAPING?
Sports taping is a thin strip of stretchy, adhesive cotton that is applied to the skin in order to maintain the stable position of bones and muscles during athletic activity and facilitate recovery from an injury and prevent further damage.
Taping can have an effect on the skin, lymphatic and circulatory system, fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joints and can be used in any phase of recovery – acute, sub-acute, chronic.
Sports taping is used in conjunction with a number of treatment approaches and modalities to ensure optimal recovery and performance after an injury.
HOW DOES PROPEL USE ATHLETIC TAPING?
Athletic taping is a handy tool that our therapists use and provides a range of treatment options for varying conditions. We use it in the treatment of swelling, pain, muscle facilitation and any other cueing that might be appropriate to improve the stability around a joint or body area.
Our therapists have training in the use of taping to facilitate recovery from a number of sports-related conditions such as ACL repair, ankle sprains, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, low back pain, shin splints and muscle strains.
