WHAT IS MINDFULNESS TRAINING?
Mindfulness training is a practice that takes you from the usual mode of automatic pilot and brings you into greater awareness of the present state. It involves paying attention in a specific way to help you see clearly what is happening in your life. It allows us to be more fully present in all areas of our lives.
Many of us live our lives in a state of automatic pilot. Our minds are caught up in past events or in anticipation of future events. We fail to notice the things around us, or what our bodies are telling us.
The research on mindfulness and its positive effects on our lives continues to grow. Since the late 1970s, there have been over 1,000 publications reporting the effectiveness of mindfulness in managing a variety of disorders, including conditions like chronic pain, stress, heart disease, anxiety, sleep disorders and depression.
Cultivating mindfulness can lead to a sense of calmness, clarity and insight within yourself. It can allow us to be fully awake in each moment. By changing the way we see and respond to the events of our lives, we can dramatically lower our stress and effect our health and well-being.

At Propel Physiotherapy, we provide group mindfulness training, as well as one-on-one sessions to help clients foster mindfulness practice in their daily lives. Our knowledge of neurological injuries allows us to custom tailor sessions to suit individual needs.
