PHYSIOTHERAPY TORONTO & SURROUNDING AREAS
We believe in helping our clients pursue optimal health and wellness through physical therapy and activity, education, and mindfulness. We provide comprehensive client-centered care programs, based on the current, evidence-based techniques, in the most cost-effective manner possible. Whether you have suffered a catastrophic neurological injury, a sprained ankle, or neck pain from working at a computer all day, we provide the same high standard of care from our two Greater Toronto area clinics, located in Etobicoke and Pickering.

Acupuncture
At Propel Physiotherapy, we use acupuncture in conjunction with physiotherapy, exercise and other proven, effective modalities to help optimize function and health and treat various neurological and orthopedic conditions. The insertion points are carefully chosen based on the goal of the treatment and the client’s medical history combined with comfort level.

Body Weight Support Treadmill Training
We incorporate cutting-edge technology that is evidence based, like the LiteGait® Body Weight Support System into treadmill training. It gives our neurological clients the potential for appropriate posture, reduces weight bearing, eliminates concerns for balance, and facilitates the training of coordinated lower extremity movement.

Exercise Programming
Our exercise physiologists and kinesiologists have advanced training in developing safe and effective exercise programs based on your current functional level designed to help you reach your goals. They also work hand-in-hand with the rest of our team of physiotherapists and registered massage therapists to make sure all bases are covered when starting your exercise program.

Functional Electrical Stimulation
FES can improve functional movements such as walking, running, stepping, reaching, grasping. It strengthens weak muscles and inhibits spasticity (inappropriate co-contraction). In addition, FES promotes normal motor patterning through adaptive neuroplasticity rather than maladaptive. It can also improve shoulder subluxation and weakness after stroke.

Hydrotherapy
By combining hands-on pool-based physiotherapy treatment techniques and specifically designed exercises, hydrotherapy can help restore physical function in a warm, relaxing environment. Treatment is supervised by physiotherapists with specific training in hydrotherapy, and performed in a heated pool to allow for increased range of motion while the water supports the body.

Massage Therapy
Propel Physiotherapy offers high-quality massage therapy for the treatment of acute and chronic conditions as a result of spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and a host of other neurological conditions. We also treat post-surgical, perinatal, arthritic, and stress-related conditions, including knee replacement, back pain, TMJ pain and headaches.

Mindfulness Training
The research on mindfulness and its positive effects on our lives continues to grow. Since the 70s, there have been numerous publications reporting the effectiveness of mindfulness in managing a variety of conditions like chronic pain, stress, heart disease, anxiety, sleep disorders and depression.

Personal Training
Whether your goals are performance-driven, rehabilitation-focused or weight loss-based, personal training can help you reach them. Working with an exercise professional will provide you with education around maximizing the effectiveness of your workout while preventing injuries.

Robotic Assisted Gait Training
At Propel Physiotherapy we incorporate cutting edge technology to meet the needs of our neurological clientele. We use robotic assisted gait training (RAGT) protocols that are evidence based and tailored for each client, maximizing their rehabilitation, helping them to achieve their goals.

Sports Taping
Athletic taping is a handy tool that our therapists use and provides a range of treatment options for varying conditions. We use it in the treatment of swelling, pain, muscle facilitation and any other cueing that might be appropriate to improve the stability around a joint or body area.

Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy
Vestibular rehabilitation therapy or VRT is a specialized form of therapy designed to alleviate symptoms related to a variety of vestibular disorders, which involve part of the inner ear and can affect balance. It involves manual techniques and/or an exercise-based program designed to promote central nervous system compensation for inner ear deficits. VRT is an evidence-based treatment and has been extensively researched.

Yoga Therapy
We believe that yoga is a valuable adjunct to any physiotherapy program. We also believe yoga is for everyone: people of all ages, physical abilities and fitness levels, when adapted by a knowledgeable teacher. Yoga postures, breath work and meditative movements have the potential to improve your health and well-being, assist in the healing of your injury, and prevent injury when prescribed by a qualified therapist.
Let Us Bring Our Services To You
We recognize that not everyone is readily able to access one of our three physiotherapy clinics in Etobicoke, Pickering and Peterborough. For that reason, all of our services are mobile. Enjoy the benefits of our professional services in the comfort of your home, office or any suitable setting in your community.
After a full assessment of your needs and surroundings, one of our registered professionals will develop a program with your specific goals in mind to help you get to where you want in your physical health and wellness.
