Kinesiology & Exercise Physiology

How long is a kinesiology or exercise physiology session?

Depending on your fitness and tolerance levels, an exercise session will typically be 45 minutes to an hour long. The length of your session will be discussed prior to your assessment and can be modified after your initial assessment with the registered kinesiologist or exercise physiologist. The number and length of follow-up visits can also vary and will be discussed once your initial assessment is completed.

Do I need a doctor’s note for kinesiology or exercise physiology sessions?

You do not need a doctor’s referral to see a registered kinesiologist or exercise physiologist. If you are participating in formal exercise for the first time (or for the first time in a long time), we do encourage open communication with your doctor. Our clinicians will ensure you are safe to exercise at a capacity that is tolerable and meaningful for your goals. Some extended health care plans require a physician’s note to have registered kinesiology and exercise physiology sessions reimbursed.
